Xbox One can handle eight controllers, PS4 can handle four
This came from information added to their product details page earlier this week. Sony responded in the form of a Tweet sent out by Sony Worldwide Studios head Shuhei Yoshida, stating that the PS4 only supports four controllers at a time.
In comparison, the PS3 supports up to seven controllers while the Xbox 360 can only handle four. But will this make a difference in the long run? There surely hasn’t been a huge rush to support local multiplayer on current-gen consoles.
The biggest issue here is that sports games and other such titles may suffer on the PS4 because couch games with a bunch of friends will be limited on one of the new consoles. Then again, we’ve gone an entire generation with the opposite company’s console in the same predicament and it ended up doing pretty well overall against its competition.
So what do you think? Do you think having less controller support in an industry that is pushing so hard for online and network play is a big deal? Let us know in the comments section.
