Dead Island and Dead Island Riptide are being remastered and will launch May 31, collection includes 16-bit Dead Island: Retro Revenge

Deep Silver has confirmed that on May 31, gamers will be able to play remastered versions of Dead Island and Dead Island Riptide as they are being re-released as part of the Dead Island Definitive Collection.

Along with the two remastered games, Dead Island: Retro Revenge — a brand new 16-bit side-scrolling Dead Island adventure — is included in the collection. Deep Silver detailed Retro Revenge as follows:

  • Retro look meets melee-based combat
  • Featuring leaderboards, achievements and plenty of depth
  • Game mechanics include power-ups, super attacks and a combo system

Deep Silver says the remastered versions of the games will feature enhanced graphics, lighting, shading, textures and more. The games will include 4-player online co-op and the PS4 version will support Remote Play and shareplay.

Dead Island Definitive Collection can be purchased at retail or digitally on May 31 for $40. Dead Island and Dead Island Riptide can also be purchased separately for $20 each. Both games come with all the DLC that was released for each. Deep Silver hasn’t announced if Dead Island: Retro Revenge will be available outside of the collection bundle.

The new collection releases ahead of Dead Island 2, which is slated to launch some time in 2016.
