New trailer teases the upcoming game, more details on remastered Modern Warfare revealed

Update: Infinity Ward revealed a whole slew of more information about the game during a livestream a little while ago. GameSpot has a full report on what was revealed.

26774054495_db8d2fded5_bInfinity Ward and Activision officially announced today that Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will launch on November 4, 2016.

The new trailer confirms what leaks had suggested; the new game will take place in space.

“Infinite Warfare represents a departure for us in several ways,” said Eric Monacelli, communications director for Infinity Ward. “This will be Infinity Ward’s first Call of Duty to benefit from a full three-year development timeline. That means we’re bringing an ambitious approach and employing state-of-the-art design methods during our development. We’ll also have a little extra time for even more of the high-quality polish and refinement to make this game everything it can be.”

Monacelli said he wanted to point out that the game does not feature aliens or science fiction elements, however, but rather that the game takes traditional warfare beyond the reaches of earth as some of the battles take place in outer space.

“To be clear, we aren’t developing a science fiction or space battle game — Infinite Warfare is first and foremost a Call of Duty game, which means visceral boots-on-the-ground infantry combat as well as piloting combat vehicles,” said Monacelli. “But, by expanding the scope of the action into the vastness of space, we are taking this experience to exciting and surprising places in many ways.”

The game will also feature an all-new cooperative zombies mode and PS4 players will receive access to new multiplayer maps 30 days before other platforms, according to Monacelli’s post on the PlayStation Blog.

In addition, the special editions of Infinite Warfare will include a full download of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered.

“Executive produced by Infinity Ward and developed closely with the amazing team at Raven, Modern Warfare Remastered will include the full, iconic story campaign, and the original multiplayer mode with ten of the biggest fan-favorite maps [including Crash, Backlot and Crossfire] that redefined Call of Duty forever, fully remastered for PS4,” said Monacelli.

Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare will be sold in several editions, and we’ve listed them below. It’s important to note that the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered game will not be sold separately.

  • Legacy Edition/Digital Legacy Edition ($79.99): Includes both Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Remastered
