Nintendo’s new console, formerly ‘NX’, has been shown for the first time and we’ve got the trailer for you

As promised, Nintendo has revealed its upcoming console, now known as Nintendo Switch, a handheld, home console hybrid that will use 3DS-like cartridges.

The system features a docking station where the portable screen can be plugged in for play on the TV. That screen can then be removed from the dock and two controller pieces called “Joy-Cons” can be slotted onto each side so that it resembles the Wii U gamepad and can be used for portable play away from the TV.

Those “Joy-Cons” can also be snapped off for two player gameplay and, like most handhelds, multiple consoles can be used for multiplayer with more people. In addition, a Pro Controller is shown in the trailer that can be used both at home and on-the-go with the console.

No price has been announced yet, but as was previously announced, the Nintendo Switch will release in March 2017. A new 3D Mario game is teased, Splatoon and Mario Kart are shown (maybe it will be backward compatible?) and NBA 2K17 as well as the new Zelda that was previously announced for the Switch were also displayed.
