Super NES Classic Edition coming Sept. 29, will include canceled Star Fox 2

The SNES mini will come prepacked with 21 games, two controllers and HD support

Nintendo has announced that starting September 29, the Super Nintendo Entertainment System Classic Edition mini will be available for purchase.

The SNES Classic Edition will include 21 games, but the most shocking of the bunch is the previously-canceled Star Fox 2 from 1995. The complete list of games can be seen below.

  • Contra III: The Alien Wars
  • Donkey Kong Country
  • EarthBound
  • Final Fantasy III
  • F-Zero
  • Kirby Super Star
  • Kirby’s Dream Course
  • Legend of Zelda, The: A Link to the Past
  • Mega Man X
  • Secret of Mana
  • Star Fox
  • Star Fox 2
  • Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting
  • Super Castlevania IV
  • Super Ghouls ‘n Ghosts
  • Super Mario Kart
  • Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
  • Super Mario World
  • Super Metroid
  • Super Punch-Out
  • Yoshi’s Island

The system will look just like the SNES and like the NES Classic Edition, which is now discontinued, it will fit in the palm of your hand. It will include two controllers, which Nintendo says will have longer cords than the NES Classic Edition’s controller had. It also supports HDMI.

The SNES Classic Edition will be priced at $79.99 in the U.S. A Japanese Super Famicom version will feature a slightly different set of games and will look like the original Super Famicom. European countries will also receive a different version of the console, modeled after the European version of the SNES.

Nintendo told Forbes it will have a larger supply of the SNES Classic Edition than it did with the NES Classic, but it also confirmed that the system will be discontinued at the end of the year. So, if you want one, you may want to pre-order it now.
