Original Xbox backward compatibility on Xbox One begins tomorrow

Microsoft’s E3 2017 announcement that original Xbox games would come to the backward compatibility program has finally delivered

After months of speculation as to when the “fall” release of the original Xbox titles on Xbox One would happen, the day is finally here.

Tomorrow, Oct. 24, 2017, will mark the beginning of being able to play Xbox games on Xbox One and Xbox One X (once the new console releases next month).

The first batch of games includes the previously-announced Crimson Skies and Fuzion Frenzy along with 11 other titles. You can view the full list below. The games are playable as downloads or from the original discs.

The games will not feature achievements as the original Xbox did not have them and online support for Xbox games was ended in 2010. The games will scale to 1080p and may even feature 4K support, according to Xbox Wire.

Microsoft says the next batch of games will be added to the program in the spring of 2018.
