The sequel to popular 2007 tower defense game will launch in May

Today is the last day of the Game Developers Conference and Q-Games and Spike Chunshoft have announced that PixelJunk Monsters 2 will be heading to PS4, Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam on May 25. It will retail at $14.99.

The game features a greater variety of weather and environments, a new third-person camera view in addition to the traditional top-down view, local and online multiplayer and cosmetic customization options.

The original game appeared on PS3, PSP, PS Vita, Wii U and PC via Windows and Linux as well as Mac. It was extremely popular.

Q Games had success with several other games as well, including several other PixelJunk games like PixelJunk Shooter and PixelJunk SideScroller as well as recent hit The Tomorrow Children.

Many of the company’s games were exclusive to PlayStation platforms and PC with several of them later appearing on Nintendo systems. The company also worked on several titles for Nintendo’s handhelds, including StarFox.

You can watch a livestream demo of the game tonight at 5 p.m. via Spike Chunshoft’s Twitch channel.
