Play at Home 2021 Update: Nine popular indie games and a major first-party title will be offered
Sony has announced the next batch of Play at Home 2021 titles and PlayStation owners will soon be able to add 10 popular titles to their collections at no cost.
According to the PlayStation Blog, from March 25 through April 22 at 8 p.m., nine more games will be available as free downloads. Those include Abzû, Enter the Gungeon, Rez Infinite, Subnautica, The Witness, Astro Bot Rescue Mission (PSVR), Moss (PSVR), Thumper (PSVR) and Paper Beast (PSVR).
In addition, from April 19 through May 14 at 8 p.m., Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition will be free.
PlayStation 4 game Ratchet and Clank is already available for free. That game remains available at no charge to everyone with a PSN account through 8 p.m. on March 31.
Sony previously announced a special extended trial for anime-focused subscription service Funimation/Wakanim. That offer starts March 25 and lasts until April 22.
The Blog post by Jim Ryan, president and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, said “we’ll have more to share soon,” which could suggest that additional free titles or other offers could be announced over the course of the four-month Play at Home initiative, which lasts through June.
It’s important to note that all you need to download these free games is a PSN account. You do not need to be a PlayStation Plus subscriber and the games are yours to keep even after the Play at Home initiative is over. However, you may need PlayStation Plus to take advantage of the online features of some of the games offered.
Last year’s Play at Home offerings included Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Journey. Both games were available as free downloads from April 15, 2020 through May 5, 2020.
